Here at Move It Men we are often asked to take on unusual removal jobs which we tackle with our customary enthusiasm. One of the more interesting things we have been asked to do was to transport from Bolton to Bury, a huge inflatable bowel. The bowel was to be used by Bury NHS to promote bowel cancer awareness, at a charity event in Bury market. The inflatable bowel, loaned by the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme allows people to see exactly what the inside of a bowel looks like. They can also access information on how lifestyle changes can dramatically affect bowel cancer prevention. Early diagnosis can also radically improve chances of recovery, yet symptoms may go undetected or unreported due to embarrassment or lack of knowledge.
We moved the inflatable bowel from Bolton to Bury, helped to set it up and moved it back again after the event. The 10ft inflatable, which was the size of a small bouncy castle, had to be in place, set up and working by 9.00am on the Saturday morning. The large brightly coloured structure attracts the attention of passing shoppers who are encouraged to pick up a leaflet or seek advice.
